Technique Tuesday #31

Hi everyone!

Welcome to this weeks Technique Tuesday. In these posts I share a technique that can be applied to many forms of paper crafting ~ card making, scrapbooking, albums and tags. I alternate Technique Tuesday and Tuesday’s Tip just to change things up a bit.

This week’s technique: SHADOW EFFECT.

There are stamp sets that are intended to produce a shadow effect on the stamped images.  Today I want to share with you how you can create the shadow effect with just about any regular stamp and a stamp positioning tool. This effect is achieved by stamping an image once in one color, moving the stamp slightly and then stamping again with a second color to create the shadow.

You will need: card stock, stamp, two ink colors {the “shadow” will be a lighter ink}, stamp positioner, stamp cleaner or baby wipe.

#1} Ink the stamp with the darker ink and stamp onto the card stock.

#2} Clean the stamp. Then ink it with the second color of ink and stamp onto the imaging sheet making sure to line up the stamp in the corner of the stamp positioner.

#3} Place the imaging sheet on top of the first stamped image so that it lines up exactly.

#4} Move the imaging sheet slightly to one side and put the stamp positioner back on the corner of the imaging sheet.

#5} Remove the imaging sheet and stamp with the second color of ink, making sure that the stamp is pushed firmly it into the corner of the stamp positioner. This means that you are stamping on top of the first stamped image, although it will be slightly to one side which creates the shadow effect!
