Fancy Fold Friday #14

Happy Friday everyone!

Fancy Fold Friday posts are posted on the first Friday of each month and are about making a wide variety of card styles just by varying the way that the paper is folded. Knowing how to fold cards from a single sheet of cardstock is a useful technique to learn. Many different styles of handmade cards can be created from standard sizes of paper and card stock ~ typically 8 1/2″ x 11″ {letter size}. The various methods of card folding each provide different design opportunities. Very unique looks can be achieved simply by changing the fold or orientation of your card and special folds are a great way to create eye catching cards!

This week: FLAP OVER FOLD.

This is a very easy card fold that could be used for any occasion at all. The greeting is on the inside and peeks through the window on the front flap.

You will need: card stock, patterned paper, cutting tool of choice, scoring board/bone folder, die/punch {to cut out the sentiment/layer and the window in the front flap, stamp/ink, adhesive, embellishments. ∗Please note: The sentiment can be heat embossed, if desired. This will require a powder tool, embossing powder and heat tool.

Cutting the papers:

*4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ card stock {this is the back flap of the base}{white}

*3 3/4″ x 5 1/2″{Soft Sky}

*3 3/8″ x 5 1/2″{white}

*3 3/8″ x 6″ {patterned paper}. Score the patterned paper at 5 9/16″.

Stamp the greeting on a scrap of white card stock. Punch or die cut. If you want the sentiment to be layered, punch or die cut a larger shape in a different color.

Punch or die cut a window in the front of the patterned paper panel. This is where the stamped/layered sentiment will peek through.

Apply adhesive to the inside flap of the patterned panel {along the narrow bit that was scored}. Fold over on the top of the colored card stock and press the adhesive down to adhere. Center the white card stock piece to the colored. Place the layered stamped sentiment under the window in the front flap. Even with a layered sentiment, there is still lots of room for personalizing the inside of the card 🙂 Add embellishments ~ I kept this card simple by adding a couple of enamel dots and a glitter ribbon knot.
